What If You Don't Need Another Person's Advice?
Have you ever asked so many people what they think that you eventually couldn't tell what you thought anymore?
There's nothing wrong with asking for advice. Other people can offer information, experience and perspectives we may not have considered.
But there's a difference between using someone else's perspective as information and treating it as authority.
In this episode, I'm talking about what happens when we keep looking outside ourselves for the answer—especially when what we're really looking for might be permission, reassurance or certainty.
Because sometimes we were actually clearer before we asked everyone else.
We'll talk about the difference between gathering useful information and outsourcing your decisions, why other people's advice is always filtered through their experiences and fears, and what self-trust looks like when no one can guarantee how your choice will turn out.
And I'll leave you with a question to ask the next time you're about to say, “What do you think I should do?”
What do I think I should do?
Hear your own answer before you add another voice to the room.
Want to talk?
If something in your life is asking to change and you're having trouble hearing your own voice underneath everyone else's, let's have a conversation.
You don't need to know whether you want coaching. Tell me what's happening, where you feel stuck and what keeps pulling at you. We'll see what we notice.
